Zero Violence From Zero Years: Transferable Successful Interventions in Nurseries

Tue, April 21, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

This contribution analyses the violence prevention actions being implemented in a Nursery in Spain that has been recognised as one of the best centres across Europe in preventing violence at early ages. This analysis is grounded on communicative methodology and has been carried out by collecting the perceptions of educators and family members regarding how the implementation of these actions contributes to prevent violence. This data was supplemented with communicative-oriented observations that were carried out in different periods of the school’s transformation into a Learning Community in the last ten years. Results evidenced three effective interventions: a) Dialogic training of educators, b) Permanent Scientific Dialogue among Educators and Staff, and c) Effective Observation and Intervention to Overcome Attraction to Violence
