Intracultural Bullying Among Latinx Youth

Abstract

In predominately Latino schools, skin color, legal status, language, national origin, and territorial rights, are risk factors of social and cultural capital used by different subgroups to ignite and defend from intracultural bullying.

This phenomenological qualitative study using in-depth interviews at two predominately Latino High schools in the SF Bay Area and San Diego, revealed that students tend to use verbal and nonverbal tactics to intimidate rather than choosing to use physical force.
