Note taking is a critical skill for students with disabilities to succeed in most content area classes. This study randomized 54 students with and without disabilities into experimental and control groups and asked them to record notes in inclusive English Language Arts classes. Students in the experimental group, who were taught the smartpen intervention, scored significantly higher on notes and an achievement measure than control group students. Implications for teaching the smartpen intervention in the classroom will be discussed.
