District-University Educator Preparation Partnerships CREATe and Validate an Observational Tool: Data-Driven, Authentic Program Improvement

Tue, April 21, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Preservice candidates require high-quality, actionable feedback to support effective instruction. The ongoing development and validation of the CREATe rubric at the focal IHE in collaboration with partnering districts supports a common language for actionable feedback in clinical experiences and eases transition from preservice to inservice. We document our ongoing partnerships with school districts in establishing validity and reliability of the CREATe rubric. Initial findings suggest that the CREATe rubric demonstrates concurrent validity and content validity. Analyses also suggest that the indicators are well aligned with the four original dimensions of the CREATe tool. We document how data from the piloting and initial validation studies are informing programmatic changes in the focal teacher residency program.
