Experiments With Lyric Philosophy and the Wilding of Educational Research

Abstract

We are living on an increasingly threadbare planet and cannot continue do the same things—perpetuate the same relationships—and expect to have a viable future for all. This is a predicament for all education. In responding to this reality, bold approaches to research are required. To this end, this presentation will employ Jan Zwicky’s lyric philosophy to reach into terrain beyond the bounds of logico-linguistic analysis. Using a series of intentionally arranged “lyric arguments” this research aims to reveal relational resonances by assisting others to see what we have seen, felt, and experienced. We fear that without such bold moves into the representation of existential experience, research will be hamstrung in attempts to move beyond the status quo.
