Co-Generative Reflections on Experiences Integrating Indigenous Knowledges in Schools: Toward Considerations for Partnerships in Research

Sun, April 19, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

This paper queries possibilities offered when different educational institutions partner in research towards understanding the experiences of implementing educational initiatives on supporting Indigenous knowledges in schools. We ask: What can we learn from our different positions when partnering and how does that relate to experiences of learning to incorporate Indigenous knowledges across K-12 education? Through cogenerative dialogues between members of the partner research group in relation to themes from interviews in a broader case study, the findings show everyone has responsibilities, from wherever we enter the work of decolonizing our institutions, that we must engage with humility and move slowly in making connections. We end with provocations for keeping the work of education for reconciliation moving in generative directions.
