A Comparison of Curricula in Top Educational Leadership Ph.D. and Ed.D. Programs

Abstract

This study systematically compared educational leadership Ph.D. and Ed.D. programs among 25 top institutions in the nation. It identified similarities and differences between the two types of programs in the areas of course content, course delivery method, research preparation, leadership practice, assessment, and new trends in both types of programs. The findings of this study add to the scarce evidence in this area and extend our understanding of high quality Ph.D. and Ed.D. programs in educational leadership. Implications for research and practice are discussed in this paper.
