The Relationship Among Parental Involvement, School Factors, and Students' Academic Outcomes

Sat, April 18, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine whether school factors such as school mean SES and school outreach practices to parents have a significant influence on home-based and school-based parental involvement, as well as students’ math self-efficacy and math achievements. This study took a methodologically robust approach by adopting the educational longitudinal study (ELS) from the U.S. Department of Education and by building a multilevel analysis based on structural equation modeling (SEM). The results showed that school outreach movements had a positive influence on parental involvement at school and a significant influence on students’ math self-efficacy and math achievements
