Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Educational games on tablet computer can provide users with authentic learning experiences. This study aimed to investigate how to enhance the potentials of educational games on tablet computer from the cognitive load perspective. Based on the data from eye tracker and self-report questionnaires—in all the four games with different types and difficulties—users payed the most attention to the center area among all the other areas of the interface. Additionally, this study also explored users’ attitude towards each game and their reasons. Users were more attractive to learning games with encouraging incentive mechanism. The auxiliary factors (e.g., progress markers, etc.) of a game are important for participants to keep concentration on the game.
