xIn recent years, personalized learning (PL) has drawn increased attention from multiple fields of study. However, little consensus exists pertaining to the definition or implementation of PL. In order to provide considerations for PL design that supports dynamic development of individual learners, this synthesis integrated current empirical PL practices through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The results showed that across existing studies student learning was often personalized in a narrow sense. Through the lens of UDL, only a few studies reported comprehensive PL designs in learning environments that showed potentials for supporting dynamic learning for all students.
