Education systems have a growing need for assessing 21st Century skills that contribute to students’ college and career readiness. Of these skills, conscientiousness is one of the best predictors of academic, workforce and life success. Conscientiousness is primarily measured using self-report, which results in significant measurement issues, particularly with youth. Game-based “stealth assessment” may be a viable solution. Using an Evidence Centered Design framework, and keeping with the conference theme, we worked closely with key stakeholders to develop, test, and refine the game. With their involvement, we hope to provide education systems with a valid, reliable, engaging way to assess a key set of skills students need to succeed in school, work and life.
