A Wearable Intelligent Recommendation Approach to Improving University Students' Engagement in Museum Education

Sat, April 18, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of a wearable intelligent recommendation guide on students’ engagement (behavioral, cognitive, and emotional engagement) in museum education. A total of 63 university students were randomly assigned to the wearable intelligent recommendation guide group and the intelligent recommendation guide group. The results showed that the wearable intelligent recommendation guide was superior in terms of improving students’ engagement and for the three sub-dimensions of engagement when compared with the intelligent recommendation guide. It is suggested that a wearable intelligent recommendation guide could be a good strategy for applying wearable technologies in museum education. It can also bring more interactions and trigger students’ engagement in informal education.
