Landing Spaces and Capital: Latino Transfer Men Resiliency and Knowledge-Building

Abstract

Research on Latino men has underscored the significance of higher education on their identity development, sense of belonging, and challenges in navigating varying institutional types, particularly those transferring from two-year to four-year campuses. These experiences and outcomes accentuates the need for more intentional work to support the transfer experiences of Latino men. Utilizing a crossover capital framework, this paper shares insights on how Latino men experience choques in their transitions from one landing space to another (e.g., institution, geographic location). Implications for those on the receiving end of the transfer pipeline are shared.
