Based on placement data from a national-scale survey of 33 colleges of China, this paper studies the employment situation of graduates and its influencing factors. Empirical research results show: The impact of family background on the employment of graduates is not only reflected in the access to employment opportunities, but also in the quality of employment, i.e. the employment with high salaries. There are unequal results of higher education for children of different social strata. Urban families, families with high income and parents with high education level can provide abundant social resources and development platform for their children.
