Multiliteracies in a Shared Language of U.S.-Based Out-of-School Time Programs

Sun, April 19, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

In the bulk of the literature, the identity of an out-of-school time (OST) program is established by means of comparing its pedagogy and curriculum to in-school pedagogy and curriculum. This paper proposes a descriptive taxonomy of OST programs through a multiliteracies lens (New London Group 1996; Garcia, Luke, & Seglem 2018) as a step towards creating a shared language and system of understanding among those who study OST programming.
