In 2014, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s (AACP) Argus Commission called for increased attention to the topic of diversity in pharmacy. While some researchers have answered that call, a gap in the literature on the experiences of underrepresented racial and ethnic minority (URM) pharmacy residents remains. Guided by agency theory and the Life Experiences and Role Negotiations (LEARN) model, this study seeks to explore career choices among URM pharmacy residents. Through analysis of semi-structured interviews conducted with 16 participants, we explore agentic perspectives and behaviors that have influenced residents’ career choices.
