Measuring Kindergarteners' Speech Sound Discrimination and Relational Reasoning: The Potential and Limitations of Face-to-Face and Online Testing

Abstract

This study is based on the digitalization of a widely used school readiness test for kindergarteners. The present paper examines children’s achievement within and between the face-to-face and online test versions, and identify the relationship between the face-to-face and online versions of the subtests. 237 kindergarteners took part in the study. Results show that both the face-to-face an adopted, online version is reliable assessment tools. Kindergartener’s had better performance during the face-to-face test-taking. Findings highlight the role of the objectivity and the interscorer and examiner variance.
