Leveraging Experiential Education as a Model for Deeper Learning in Teacher Education

Abstract

To embolden deeper learning (Darling-Hammond & Oakes, 2019) for our preservice teachers, we joined with community partners to develop experiential education as a signature pedagogy across our MAT program. In this study, we explore how our experiential educator preparation model fosters deeper learning for our own students and, further, how that learning translates into our preservice teachers’ practice with their K-12 students.
