Many students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have an interest in STEM fields, and yet often struggle with critical abilities to succeed in STEM careers, such as social skills, executive function, and critical reflection. To support STEM career preparation of students with and without ASD, this paper reports on a project that brought together a collaborative team of researchers, program developers, and ASD educators and students to create an inclusive design and engineering program implemented by educators in New York City public middle-school schools. Findings from the project in three typically-resourced schools will be presented, with an emphasis on the collaboration with the stakeholders and student outcomes of social engagement and STEM career preparation.
