This paper uses qualitative measures to examine the variety of issues associated with fatigue and burnout encountered by leaders situated within urban schools and the effect of intentionally developed mindfulness sessions offered during the beginning of doctoral leadership preparation graduate courses have on leaders experiencing issues associated with fatigue and burnout. The findings of this study highlight the need for leadership preparation programs to develop curricula that explicitly address the well-being of school leaders.
