This paper presents the design of a professional learning system for high school science teachers centered on the crosscutting concept of energy and matter. It articulates the tools and routines developed to support science teacher learning both within and across science courses, and identifies affordances and constraints of this model. The paper directly addresses the AERA 2020 theme by highlighting results of a long-term, research-practice partnership between university-based researchers and a public school district.
