Prior research shows that instructional faculty and professors in educational leadership preparation programs are largely split between those with and without significant practical experience. Yet, in those programs where instructional faculty have less practical experience, there is often an overt triple-helix partnership where educational leadership academic programs partner with government and industry to achieve competitiveness and regional development. Building on the work of Etzkowitz and Leydesdorff (Etzkowitz, 2003), the triple-helix theory focuses on the role that triad partnerships play in innovative initiatives. We apply this to the ways that scholars in educational leadership preparation programs, who lack practical experience, build partnerships to provide practical experiences for educational leaders in preparation.
