Moderating Effects of Social Connectedness on Demands of Immigration, Future Anxiety, and Life Satisfaction

Abstract

The study investigated the effects of demands of immigration on future anxiety and life satisfaction and the moderating effect of social connectedness on the relationship between demands of immigration, future anxiety, and life satisfaction. In this study, among different types of demands of immigration, novelty, and perceived discrimination were focused. The data of first-generation Korean Americans (n=107) was analyzed to answer the research questions, using structural equation modeling, using Mplus. The moderation analysis indicated both social connectedness to the mainstream community as well as ethnic community moderates the relationship between demands of immigration on future anxiety and life satisfaction.
