This paper presents an analysis of the nature of work within client-facing interprofessional project teams. It sheds light on the different practices that members of client-facing interprofessional teams engage in as they organise, plan and problem-solve. We argue that these practices a) require that professionals form what we term ‘situated judgements’ b) problematise the long-held notion of professional autonomy and c) set new agenda for programmes of professional education.
