Relationship Between Principals' and Teachers' Participation in Professional Development: Based on Hierarchical Generalized Linear Models Approach

Mon, April 20, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This study examined what teacher- and school- level factors are related to teachers’ participation in PD, using HGLM. As a result, it was revealed that the significant predictors on teachers’ participation in School-PD and Non School-PD are different. For example, while the introduction program and time support were positively and significantly related to teachers’ participation in both forms of PD, female is only negatively associated with teachers’ participation in Non School-PD. Also, principals’ PD activity was only related to teachers’ participation in Non School-PD, not to School-PD. The findings suggested that school leaders need to provide different support and inducement for teachers, according to what forms of PD they attend.
