The university facilitators who participated in this qualitative study use an asynchronous video observation tool and face-to-face observations to evaluate teacher candidates during their internships. Four major themes emerged from the data revealing the university facilitator as a learner, the desire of university facilitators to use video to foster deeper reflection in their teacher candidates, the role of time in video observations, and how asynchronous and synchronous video tools foster different types of feedback. A summary of findings and the need for additional research are discussed.
