Technology Framework and Solution to Support Program Improvement

• In Event: Evaluating Outcomes of Educator Preparation Programs: Data Sources and Measures

Abstract

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Texas State Board for Educator Certification oversee all aspects educator preparation programs (EPP) and through an accountability system, ensure all EPPs are preparing effective teachers for Texas classrooms. However, accountability creates opportunities for EPPs to ensure high-quality educators are prepared to meet the demands of diverse classrooms. This paper focuses on (a) how continuous improvement can be achieved through active participation and collaboration among a team of faculty within a program and (b) how a department developed efforts to take ownership of the data interpretation process by thoughtfully and collaboratively engaging in the data-based decision-making process by using the performance of certified graduates based on a TEA created principal survey of first-year teachers.
