Tue, April 21, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This study investigated four instructors’ experiences utilizing Zoom video conferencing technology in an online and required business communication course that had a large enrollment of 1362 students per semester. The course used Zoom to simulate virtual teamwork and provide virtual leadership opportunities to each student as one of the course objectives was “lead, participate in, and evaluate virtual meetings.” The study captured the experiences of instructors with the course design, Zoom as an instructional platform for teaching soft skills, and challenges encountered. The findings of the study will inform other instructors who are interested in using the Zoom video conferencing tool to teach soft skills to their students.
