Teacher Collaboration to Challenge Racial Oppression: Mediation Analysis of Collective Agency for Racial Justice

Abstract

Educational researchers fighting for racial justice detail a need for an educational justice movement that centers collective action among all stakeholders. Teachers are located at the forefront of this collective movement for racial justice. Further, there are questions surrounding how collaboration for racial justice influences teacher efficacy to support their student racial justice activism. This study explores how the relationship between collaboration and teacher support of student activism is mediated by a sense of collective agency to challenge racial oppression. The results hold implications for educational leaders as they explore ways to promote collective action to challenge racial oppression among teachers and students.
