Leaning In: Experiential Education and Critical Social Studies

Fri, April 17, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This qualitative study bridges experiential education and critical social studies to examine how teacher education that challenges participants across multiple domains could impact practice. Using field notes, interview and focus group data, and participant reflection, we have analyzed data from cohorts of the last three years. This study focuses tightly on the experience of one teacher whose experience in the teacher education program and current practice reflect the potential of experiential education to stretch the conventions of traditional social studies.
