Any evolution of learning ecosystems – and IDC between school-aged learners is such an evolution – can be interpreted through myriad conceptual or theoretical frameworks, and, in turn, contribute to theory testing that relates to those frameworks. The panel discussion will focus on how each of several frameworks contributes to the developing field of IDC between school-aged learners and teachers. The paper references these frameworks, including cross-cultural computer supported collaborative learning, cultural-historical activity theory, self-determination theory, and boundary crossing, while alluding to design principles such as those reflected in the Responsive Design and 5C frameworks.
The panel involve brief recaps from the authors, but the discussant will primarily seek to elicit from session attendees contributions to finding both theoretical and implementation-exemplar connections between the frameworks, along with new opportunities for collaboration.
