Oral history methodologies allow individual subjectivity and the voice of marginalized subjects to inform CBPAR approaches. In this presentation the narratives of immigrant Mexican male participants in a mixed-methods community based participatory research project illustrate their status as vulnerable subjects affected by traditional gender roles and the current anti-Mexican, anti-immigrant political climate. Methodological challenges will be discussed as well as the role of psycho-educational approaches to improve the lives of undocumented immigrant men.
