A Large-Scale Validity Study of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale–Third Edition (ECERS-3)

Abstract

The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Third Edition (ECERS-3; Harms, Clifford, & Cryers, 2015) is the latest version of a well-recognized observational instrument for assessing the comprehensive quality of classrooms serving children aged 3 through 5 years of age. This ongoing study is designed to add internal structure and response process validity evidences for the ECERS-3 through confirmatory factor analysis and the item response theory approaches, using a large sample of 777 classrooms in two eastern state.
