In this design case paper, we describe the process of developing four historical-mathematical modules as in-game learning support aligned with the evolution of mathematical concepts across time. Multiple artifacts were developed for integration into a digital game as part of an ongoing 3D game-design project. Our primary goal is to provide conceptual and dispositional learning support for middle school students within the game environment to minimize the exasperation of cognitively demanding tasks. These artifacts were developed through a culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP) lens with the intention to be attentive towards students’ multifarious modes of thinking and learning as well as identities and epistemological orientations toward the evolution of mathematics. After reporting expert reviews, we discuss the significance of this integration.
