In Event: Marriott Roundtable Session 13
In Roundtable Session: Narratives of Latinx College Students
Community colleges are a critical sector of higher education providing access to any student seeking educational opportunities. Within this context, we examine the experiences of Latinx evening-enrolled students, a growing, yet relatively understudied population. As a research paper, we used focus groups to generate individual and collective discussions related to the experiences of evening enrolled Latinx students in community college. Our paper highlights the limited reach of student services as well as the reconceptualization of student engagement on campus life. We offer implications for further research and recommendations for institutions and practitioners to better support these students by expanding their traditional hours of operations and creating opportunities for engagement.
