Study on the Effects of Parental Involvement–Based Career Intervention Program for High School Students

Abstract

This study explored the intervention effects of high school students' career development programs based on parental involvement. A total of 108 students(experimental group 60,control group 58) from 4 senior administrative classes in a high school in Beijing were selected as subjects.The experimental group and their parents received a ten-week group career guidance program based on parental involvement,while the control group received ten-week routine career course in their school just focusing on students.The results revealed that the parental involvement-based program was effective in increasing high school students’ career adaptability and decreasing their career ambivalence,as well as in increasing the parent-adolescent career congruence and career-related support.However,the intervention effects did not maintain 6 months later after the last session of program.
