The following study is an evaluation of an alternative teacher preparation program committed to preparing and supporting teachers to be effective educators in urban Catholic schools. Based on longitudinal data measuring students’ and teachers’ academic and non-academic attributes, the current analysis compares program and non-program teachers and their students on their self-reported levels of faith, religiosity, and grit. Additionally, we compare students academic data in the form of their NWEA MAP scores to examine differences in performance among students taught by teachers in both groups. When comparing teacher responses, we found differences in faith, religiosity and grit items across teachers and their students. We also found differences across students in faith items as well as MAP scores.
