Shaping Community College Students' Enrollment Decisions: The Role of Academic Advisors

Abstract

In this session, a team of community college and research university faculty/researchers present the findings from a year-long collaboration examining a new initiative designed to increase full-time enrollment among students at a large, diverse community college system. Using data from students and academic advisors, our findings shed new light on the multitude of factors that influence students’ assessments of the benefits and risks of pursuing full-time enrollment, with a specific emphasis on the role of academic advisors in the students’ enrollment decisions.
