How a Networked Approach to Knowledge Mobilization in Higher Education Institutions Supports Research Impact

Abstract

Purpose: Knowledge mobilization (KMb) includes efforts to better connect research, practice, and policy in education. Our aim is to explore a networked approach to building capacity in KMb to learn how higher education institutions (HEIs) can improve their support and promotion of research impact in education. Methods: This study stems from a developmental evaluation of Canada’s leading authority on KMb within and between HEIs: Research Impact Canada (RIC). Data collection and analysis followed a two-phase convergent design, including survey and interview data from 16 RIC leaders representing 14 partner HEIs. Findings: The central theme converged upon is how networked learning about KMb can be useful and contribute to the use of KMb practices in the face of growing HEI diversity.
