Student Perceptions on Interprofessional Readiness to Learn, Effective Collaboration, and a Conductive Learning Environment

Tue, April 21, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

The course Building Better Together (BBT) aims to develop interprofessional collaboration skills by partnering occupational therapy and engineering students to design an assistive device for an end-user in the community. The objective of this study was to explore students’ perspectives on readiness to learn in an interprofessional setting, collaboration within an interdisciplinary team, and the course learning environment. To inform these evaluations the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS), Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration Scale (AITCS), and Interprofessional Clinical Placement Learning Environment Inventory (ICPLEI) were used. All three evaluation measures indicated that the students had a largely positive perception on their readiness for interprofessional learning, group collaboration, and the BBT project and learning environment.
