Empowering Collaboration by Focusing on Community-Based Multicultural Education: An African American Art Teacher Case Study

Abstract

In the 21st century, community-based urban education became a controversial topic. Researches has shown that a creative synergy between collaborating partnerships and communities can provide a possible solution for these complex socio-cultural issues, which can transform diverse partners into a collaborative relationship. In this particularistic case study, we emphasize the importance of collaboration between communities and an educator as an individual to empower and engage in community-based educational practice. We explore the process by which partnerships working across cultural differences.
