This critical collaborative autoethnography examines how three racially-diverse, cisgender women teacher educators navigated tensions in facilitating diversity, equity, and inclusiveness (DEI) sessions for preservice teachers in a national preparation program. We employ the frameworks of intersectionality, critical race theory, and socialization as we engage in critical introspection individually and together to process the success, failures, and trauma we experienced as DEI facilitators. Initial findings highlight four commonalities among our experiences: a) inequity in formative schooling, (b) racialization and racism, (c) disruption in our socialization through identity work, and (d) examining our biases as teachers.
