This paper presentation will demonstrate how educator preparation, specifically professional experiences, can change how we begin to reimagine the educator workforce and the way the educator workforce functions to better meet the needs of teachers, teacher candidates and PK-12 students. In this study, two school districts, early adopters, partnered with the university to develop contextual models that deployed lead teachers and teacher candidates in new ways to deliver personalized learning to students. By building teams—shifting from a one-teacher, one-classroom model of delivery to a team-based and collaborative model, educator preparation became a catalyst for systems change in schools.
