Abstract

The need for African American male teachers is clear; however, the actual numbers over the past few years have not changed. Given the impact of African American male teachers on student performance, every effort should be undertaken to recruit, train, and retain African American male teachers. The qualitative study using the African American Male Theory as a theoretical lens was used to ascertain how to recruit, train, and retain African American male teachers. Three themes emerge.
