This interdisciplinary research study has been conducted under the scheme of Innovation project funded by the University of Delhi.
The school can be seen as a microcosm of the nation and reflects the conflicts that play themselves out on the larger canvass including those generated by identity. The classroom is characterized by a multiplicity of languages, ethnicity, class, and religions, placing several conflicting demands on the various stakeholders involved. It is here that predispositions for cultures of peace can either be built or permanently dwarfed. The key research question was to understand the nature and sources of conflict in the classroom. The findings show that overt and hidden curricula appear to be serving as sources of conflict in the classroom.
