What Can We Learn From Mass School Shootings?

Abstract

Gun violence in the United States has been a serious issue for over two decades. Attention in the media continues to focus on more stringent gun control laws. It is evident that this senseless violence necessitates gun control legislation, but concentration on what else should be done to prevent these shootings is essential. There is a need to examine what causes a person to take innocent lives. Determining other possibilities besides gun control is daunting and requires extensive effort. Continuous discussion on gun control cannot continue if we are truly interested in preventing senseless killings throughout the country. Extensive research on this topic is necessary and urgent.
