Recent policy mandates necessitate the development of valid and reliable systems to gather evidence of prospective teachers’ dispositions. This paper shares a self-report measure designed to assess prospective teachers’ affective skills undergirding professional dispositions. The paper includes perspectives from literature and policy, the process for instrument development, and construct validation of the instrument including item and scale psychometrics for two forms of the instrument. The instrument developed through this research provides teacher education providers with a mechanism for measuring and monitoring prospective teachers’ affective skills and supporting the development of their professional dispositions at admission and throughout their teacher education program.
