Literacy researchers have increasingly turned to affect theory to explore surprising and unexpected meaning-making in literacy spaces. The affective turn in literacy research calls for methods that can support a sustained and systematic investigation of the visceral dimensions of literacies while also simultaneously attending to systems and structures of power. Our study looks to 1) detail how literacy researchers have approached method in affective inquiries, and 2) offer additional methodological tools to critically investigate affective production in and outside of literacy classrooms.
