The Effect of Reciprocal Relationship Between Schools on School Outcome

Abstract

Despite the appeal of promoting and forming collaborative relationships between schools, the empirical evidence of the impacts of these works on school outcome is still somewhat lacking. This study utilized data from 76 schools which were nested within 56 districts to examine the association between the reciprocal relationship between schools and school outcome by employing hierarchical linear modeling (HLM). We found that after controlling school and district demographic characteristics, the indices of reciprocal relationship could predict not only the 2018 proficiency level in both math and reading, but also the growth in proficiency level between 2017 and 2018. The implications and limitations were discussed.
