Doing Participatory Work: Building Community for All

• In Event: Building Community and Creating Knowledge Through Participatory Research: Rethinking Intellectual Disability and Educational Research

Abstract

This paper presents a participatory project developing digital tools with and for people with intellectual disability. We will share how our academic-community partnership works together, information about access to and use of digital technology among people with intellectual disability, design principles for creating digital resources for people with intellectual disability, and the tools themselves. We will also talk about how we are each benefiting from our mutual relationships, and how working together requires changes for professionals and self-advocates.
